Emily Smith
Education & Development Officer
Safeguarding Child Protection Officer
Emily is from rural North East Scotland and growing up she was surrounded by animals and could always be found out and about with her miniature Shetland Pony. Horses and riding have remained a huge part of her life and she is currently kept busy with her retired Welsh Mountain Pony.
Emily completed her BA (Hons) degree in Journalism at Robert Gordon University and has worked as a correspondent within the agriculture industry before returning to the equestrian world to work as a groom in Southern Scotland. This position gave Emily the opportunity to become fully immersed in carriage driving which she hopes to delve into herself in the near future.
For the past couple of years Emily has been working as part of the education team for the Scottish SPCA helping to inspire and educate people of all ages on everything to do with Scotland's animals as well as drive forward change for animal welfare. Working for horsescotland is a dream come true for Emily and she can't wait to get started in her new role.
