Volunteers’ Week, 1-7 June, is a chance to say thank you for the fantastic contribution that millions of volunteers make across the UK. This year, the campaign tagline is ‘time to celebrate’.
With thousands of great volunteering positions available in local communities across the country, from micro-volunteering to community-based activities to online opportunities, Volunteers’ Week helps organisations celebrate their volunteers’ work and encourages volunteers to share their own stories.
The week can also help highlight how people can access volunteering opportunities and overcome any barriers they might be facing, so there’s a real benefit in getting involved for charities large and small.
NCVO leads this UK-wide campaign along with Volunteer Now (Ireland), Volunteer Scotland (Scotland) and WCVA (Wales).
In 2016 the Scottish Volunteering Forum formed a Volunteers' Week sub-group to further develop the campaign in Scotland. The sub-group consists of Volunteer Scotland, Befriending Networks, Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, Children 1st, Home Start Scotland, Macmillan Cancer Support, NHS Healthcare Improvement Scotland, Quarriers, SCVO, tsi Moray, Volunteer Glasgow, YouthLink Scotland. Together, we are pleased to announce the launch of an official Volunteers' Week Scot website.
On it you'll find out more about Volunteers' Week, ways you can get involved; including downloading the new resource pack, become a Volunteers' Week Scot Partner and sharing your Volunteer Stories, plus much more!
