We have had an exciting start to June with the horses, we went to SNEC at the end of May with Glow, Con & Cancun. It was Glow’s first show since last year and he jumped a great double clear in the 1.05m getting 4th place, it was really good to have him back out again. Con had 4 faults in the 1.10m and the 1.20m. Cancun was a superstar as always winning the 1.20m and the 1.30m so it was a great day all round.
Cleo came home this week and we went to Muirmill’s Tuesday show with her. We just had a fence down in the jump off of the Foxhunter and finished 4th. Super proud of her, looking forward to progressing with her as she is brilliant horse.
We worked hard all week to prepare for Newmilns Show which didn’t disappoint, my horse all went brilliant and the weather was great apart from one heavy shower. Cleo was just amazing winning the newcomers and she was 5th in the Foxhunter RHS Qual missing out by 1 place but super proud of how far we have come in only 5 days together. Con jumped a great first round in the 1.10m but his unlucky streak continued in the jump off. Cancun was brilliant getting 3rd in the 1.30m and Glow was great too getting 2nd in the 1.05m. Really enjoyed having the 4 of them at the show and jumping brilliant. I couldn’t have done it without the help and support of my family, it was a real team effort from start to finish.
Day 1 of horseacotland Training was brilliant! Cleo has our first session with John working on everything between the fences, straightness and keeping the rhythm which isn’t easy with her as she is slightly bonkers but she just loves to jump. Cancun had yet another great session with John, he is getting much stronger and feeling amazing. Cancun also had a session with Erik on the flat working on our transitions and shoulder in…not quite dressage standard yet but we are working on it!
We had a great presentation from John Ross at Ogilvie Ross LLP on us as a ‘brand’ and sponsorship. Reece from CWD also popped by to check out my saddle and explain how the CWD saddles are designed and how they benefit the horse and rider.
Day 2 of horsescotland Training was amazing! Cancun and Cleo both went brilliant in their flatwork and jumping sessions. Cleo jumping round a track of 1.35m/1.40m and Cancun round a track of 1.30m in our jumping session with John. In our flatwork sessions with Erik, Cancun was working on more of the same from the day before lots of transitions and shoulder in. Cleo was working on leg yielding and getting her working between my hand and leg, she was really relaxed and listening great. In my physio session with Robyn, I was much more symmetrical since our last session so she was really pleased with my progress. I now need lots of conditioning work so I have foam rollers and balancing exercises to work on. Delighted that I improved on my fitness test yet again with Lauren, the hard work of bootcamp is paying off.
Massive thank you to the whole team for all your help over the two days, I have learnt so much with my horses and really improved over the two days. I really appreciate everyone’s help. Fiona done a brilliant job as always of organising it all, thank you.
We took a trip to Muirmill for their Wednesday night show with Con and Glow for the 1.10m Amateur Qualifier, Con was double clear and 2nd qualifying for the 2nd rounds, Glow was unlucky to have a fence down in the jump off.
I am very pleased that I am now an ambassador for Zandonà Equestrian, the products are very good quality and look very smart.
I took Cancun and Cleo to the Morris Cat 3 Show to give them a jump round before the Royal Highland Show. Both horses jumped great with Cleo getting 2nd in the 1.25m Speed class and Cancun jumping a great double clear in the 1.30m B&C Stoneleigh Qual getting 4th so he just needs another double clear to qualify for the final.
Glow and Cleo went to Muirmill on the Sunday for the 1.10m Amateur Qualifier, Glow was a superstar winning the class and Cleo had 4 faults in the jump off and was 5th.
We had a weekend off before the Highland Show, all horses working brilliant at home and we took Cancun to the beach for a paddle in the sea and a good gallop. He loves it and it really refreshes him doing something different.
We had a really great time at the Royal Highland Show, Cleo jumped brilliant having a fence down in the 1.30m speed class and 8 faults in the B&C Final. It was really big and technical and she dealt with the whole situation amazingly. Cancun was also a superstar he had the last fence down in the jump off of the talent seekers HOYS Qualifier finishing 10th. We didn’t have much luck on our side in the Classic Final or the Young Masters Final having a couple of fences down but he still jumped great.
We have been selected for the Scottish SWS Area Team. We are looking forward to the qualifier for Stoneleigh this weekend, I am jumping the 1.15m section of the team. Coming up we have Newcomers and Foxhunter HOYS qualifiers at the Extravaganza Show and a trip to Howe for silver league qualifiers.
