We started a very busy August with a trip to Snec and Howe for Amateur and Silver League qualifiers. Con was 3rd in the 1.10m Amateur on Saturday at Snec. On Sunday at Howe, Glow had the fastest time by 5 seconds but a fence in the 3rd round meant 4th place missing out qualifying by 1 place, Con was 6th place and Cleo just had 4 faults in the second round. Cancun had a weekend off from jumping as we were saving him to go to Bishop Burton the following weekend.
At Bishop Burton the horses all jumped brilliant rounds all weekend. I jumped my little sisters horse (Junior) in the discovery, he jumped brilliant just had an unlucky fence down in the jump off. Cancun was 3rd and Glow was 6th in a super-fast 1.15m open. On the Sunday, Glow won the 1.10m speed class and Cancun had 4 faults in the 3rd round of the Silver League HOYS qualifier finishing 10th place.
We had a quick turnaround at home and off to the National Championships at Stoneleigh with Cancun and Cleo. We had a brilliant time with both horses jumping great rounds and getting good results. Cancun jumped double clear in the 1.20m warm up and was 7th place. Cancun had the last fence down in the first round of the 1.25m Restricted Rider Championship and Cleo jumped a brilliant clear having an unlucky fence down in the jump off finishing 10th. Our SWS Area Team who consisted of Romy Chassels, Amanda-Jayne Crighton, Mike Smith and myself WON the National Team Championship 2017. Everyone jumped brilliant and the horses were on top form finishing on a score of 0 faults after the 2 rounds. Cancun jumped 2 clear rounds then a great clear in the jump off to win. Cancun had a couple of fences down in the 1.30m Championship but really pleased he jumped it so well as it was very big and technical.
Home for a week to get some work done before we go to Scope for the full week of Showjumping with Con, Cleo and Cancun. Con jumped brilliant both days in the 1.15m having very fast times which would have been in the top 3 out of 113 competitors but unfortunately had a fence down in the jump off both days. Cancun jumped brilliant in the 1.15m coming 2nd out of 113 competitors, he was 2nd in the Young Riders B&C out of 60 competitors qualifying for the final. We didn’t jump the other preliminary round to save him for the final which paid off as he jumped a brilliant double clear and was 4th in the Young Rider Final. Cleo jumped brilliant all week too, she was 9th in the Blue Riband and 3rd in the Young Rider B&C qualifying for the final. We saved her for the final too, unfortunately she had 4 faults in the jump off but jumped amazing. Really proud of how all my horses jumped all week over some big tracks with a lot of tough competition.
We have our SWS Area Derby weekend coming up, Amateur 2nd Round Qualifiers and Scottish HOYS. Lots of exciting shows coming up which we are looking forward to.
