We went to Highfields at Howe with Cancun and he jumped a brilliant clear in the young Masters RHS Qualifier. First time I have been at that venue in a long time and they have made some great improvements to the place.
We took Cancun to SNEC for the B&C RHS Qualifier on the second weekend in April, he jumped brilliant winning the warm up class by 6 seconds and jumped brilliant in the qualifier having the last fence down in the jump off but finished 6th.
It was time for our annual holiday to Miami for the Longines Global Champions Tour Showjumping which is held on the stunning South Beach. What an experience it is to watch some of the best riders in the world jump fantastic courses and of course support our riders from Great Britain. That is the 3rd year in a row we have been to the Miami leg of the LGCT and we just love it. It is a dream of mine to compete alongside these riders at that level on the Global Champions Tour, I best keep working hard!
We had a chilled weekend at home after our holiday, taking the horses to the beach and doing some flatwork at home. Our horses love the beach so it totally refreshes them. Con has had a few weeks away from shows, working on improving his fitness and getting his summer body ready as is carrying a bit more weight than we would like him to be for jumping these big fences.
Since my last session with the horsescotland team I have started training with SBF Bootcamp, doing Bootcamp on a Monday and Kettlebells on a Thursday as well as my exercises from Lauren and Robyn. I need to build my core strength up and become a lot fitter. I am already starting to feel a difference in myself when I’m in the saddle.
Our next show will be the ML Show at Morris Equestrian, I can’t wait to get back in the ring as I have missed it lots and we only had a couple of weeks off. We have the start of the agricultural shows in May, jumping on grass which my horses love but we don’t share the love of having to use studs again. Super excited for our next horsescotland Training on the 8th/9th May too! I look forward to sharing my results in my next blog.
