sportscotland is the national agency for sport. They are the lead agency for the development of sport and have a clear focus on developing and supporting a world class sporting system in Scotland. They provide horsescotland with the majority of its’ funding.
horsescotland is a member of the British Equestrian Federation (BEF). The BEF is an umbrella organisation representing the interests of 4.2 million riders, vaulters and carriage drivers in Great Britain in partnership with its 19 independent member bodies (15 full and four associate). It exists to provide leadership, vision and purpose in steering the direction of equestrianism. Established in 1972 it is the largest representative body within the equestrian industry and together with the British Horse Racing Board and the Thoroughbred Breeders Association forms the British Horse Industry Confederation (BHIC).
The Scottish National Equestrian Centre is a state of the art venue for all equestrian sports and activities. The facilities include an international arena with viewing area, warm up arena, outdoor grass arena and six furlong all-weather gallops. We also have accommodation for both the horse and rider and full catering and conference facilities.
It is situated in rural West Lothian, just 15 minutes from Edinburgh Airport and has excellent access to both the M8 & M9 motorways, thereby ensuring that access to the centre is easy for competitors and spectators from the United Kingdom and other European countries alike.
SDS is the Scottish governing and co-coordinating body of all sports for children, athletes and players of all ages and abilities with a physical, sensory or learning disability. SDS has the vision of leading the development of sport and physical recreation for disabled sports people in Scotland and contributing to UK and international initiatives.
The Scottish Sports Association brings Scottish Governing Bodies of sport and a wide range of partners together to make sure that sports policies work in practice. They do this by working in partnership with national and local government, Scottish Parliament, sportscotland, business, the voluntary sector and other key organisations to shape, strengthen and promote sport in Scotland.
SQA is the national accreditation and awarding body in Scotland. Candidates undertaking a UKCC qualification with horsescotland are registered via Scottish Swimming and awarded their qualification by the SQA.
Founded in 1977, the National Equine Welfare Council was established as an important point of contact on equine welfare in the UK. Building on its beginnings as a forum for equine welfare organisations to discuss welfare issues, exchange experiences and air views, NEWC has evolved to become a united voice on equine welfare matters and has significantly increased its advisory and education scope.
Volunteer Scotland supports volunteers by:
- recognising the need for volunteers in Scotland and demonstrating how this brings about a difference for us all
- understanding what volunteers and volunteer involving organisations want to do
- making volunteering easy for everyone, so that more people volunteer and have a great time
SOUK is recognised as the organisation responsible for representing and supporting officials across all sports in the UK.
SOUK is a group of representatives from a number of NGBs who are all responsible for the training education and development of officials within their given sport.
SOUK was formed to address some of the common problems and recruitment issues encountered by sports and share examples of good practice in the relation to the training and development of referees, umpires, stewards and judges.
Windsor is a well-respected insurance and reinsurance broking business which can trace its origins back to 1933 and is horsescotlands’ partner for providing insurance.
Azolve provides administration solutions to help organisations increase efficiency and gain cost savings through better streamlining of their administration processes and activities . horsescotland has been working with Azolve, in partnership with sportscotland, to develop our new Data Management System.
Kbuilt is a Glasgow based company providing bespoke online business applications. Key to their systems is a clear and clean interface. They produce applications that are intuitive to use allowing staff to get on with working with our customers, instead of fighting the software. Kbuilt is horsescotlands’ web builder/ developer.
